Still Affordable Globe Mobile Internet

We reported yesterday that the affordable GS99 and GOTSCOMBOKEA37 Globe mobile Internet combo was discontinued. We believe that it was made to promote the Globe myLifestyle No Lock-up Plan that has been around for 2 years but ignored by prepaid patrons.

The Globe myLifestyle No Lock-up Plan is geared towards prepaid subscribers. It is a postpaid plan without a contract or lock-up, and of course, without a free phone. However, it comes with a very enticing feature set:

  • Unlimited calls to Globe and TM numbers
  • Unlimited texts to all networks
  • Free Facebook
  • Of course, no lock-up contract period (cancel anytime)

Who wouldn’t want unlimited texts to all networks, right? Who wouldn’t want unlimited calls? Well, that is until you realised that your contacts either use Facebook Messenger, Viber, WhatsApp, KakaoTalk, and all the other mobile/Internet messengers.

Then there was GoSURF99 (“GS99”) combined with GOTSCOMBOKEA37, there is no need to get a myLifestyle No Lock-up Plan, until yesterday.

myLifestyle No Lock-up Plan now looks enticing

Since Globe nuked the GS99+GOTSCOMBOKEA37 combo and in their system replies they are actively promoting GOTSCOMBODD70 (1000MB for 7 days with free unli all-net text); and the only available GoSURF for prepaid subscribers now is GoSURF50, GoSURF299, and up, the myLifestyle No Lock-up Plan suddenly looks affordable and reasonable.

The cheapest plan available is Plan 599 that comes with 500 MB of data. To add an additional 1000MB, simply send GOTSCOMBODD70 to 8080. That is ₱599+₱70 which is ₱699. If you need 3GB total then it is ₱599+₱70+₱70+₱70 with a total of ₱809.00.

You are better off getting the myLifestyle No Lock-up Plan 799 which comes with 3 GB of data. Let’s say we need 5 GB every month. That is ₱799+(₱70×2) which is equal to ₱939 per month. Might as well get Plan 999 with 5 GB of data, and do not forget, it comes with unlimited calls to Globe/TM, unlimited texts to all networks, and free Facebook (which means your use of Facebook will not consume your data allotment).

We believe that this was one reason, if not the reason, why the GS99+GOTSCOMBOKEA37 combo was discontinued, to give the myLifestyle No Lock-up Plans more attention and subscribers. It is, after all, now reasonable to have.

But there is still another cheaper alternative…

The new GS ADDSURF option

Subscribe to GoSURF299 for a 30-day 1500MB or 700MB of data (there is no clear information which data allotment is for prepaid subscribers). Then purchase another 1000MB by sending GS ADDSURF 99 to 8080 valid for 30 days.

  • GoSURF299 (1500MB) + GS ADDSURF 99 + GS ADDSURF 99 = ₱497 for a 30 days, 3.5GB data
  • Or, GoSURF299 (700MB) + GS ADDSURF 99 + GS ADDSURF 99 = ₱497 for a 30 days, 2.7GB data
  • Or, GoSURF299 (700MB) + GS ADDSURF 99 + GS ADDSURF 99 + GS ADDSURF 99 = ₱596 for a 30 days, 3.7GB data

* 2017-01-17 Update: Based on the promotion reply they are sending, GS299 for prepaid is 1.5GB for 30 days.

Yet another much cheaper alternative…

The GoSURF299 and GOTSCOMBODD70 combo

It may be possible to combine GoSURF299 and GOTSCOMBODD70. It looks expensive at first but it is cheaper than getting the myLifestyle No Lock-up Plan799 (30 days, 3GB data).

Here’s the rundown:

  • GoSURF299 (1500MB) + (GOTSCOMBODD70 × 2) = ₱439 for a 30 days, 3.5GB data
  • Or, GoSURF299 (700MB) + (GOTSCOMBODD70 × 2) = ₱439 for a 30 days, 2.7GB data
  • Or, GoSURF299 (700MB) + (GOTSCOMBODD70 × 3) = ₱509 for a 30 days, 3.7GB data

* 2017-01-17 Update: Based on the promotion reply they are sending, GS299 for prepaid is 1.5GB for 30 days.

Important note. We have not tested if it is possible to combine GS299 with GOTSCOMBODD70 considering that they added the GS ADDSURF option (see above). Also, by “combo”, it means we have an active GoSURF299 subscription before we purchase GOTSCOMBODD70, theoretically “upgrading” the 1000MB to the remaining days of our active GoSURF299 subscription, instead of only 7 days.

* 2017-01-17 Update: Much cheaper option.

4× GOTSCOMBODD70

As suggested by both Tristan Phillip Alonzo and Satellizer, it is cheaper to get 4 GOTSCOMBODD70. Thank you for the suggestions!

Glad that we are finding ways to get an affordable Globe mobile Internet.

Do not forget also that the myLifestyle No Lock-up Plan comes with unlimited calls to Globe/TM, unlimited texts to all networks, and free Facebook data. Thus, if one of those three unlimited bonus is important for you, it is still reasonable to get a myLifestyle No Lock-up Plan.
